Such international engagements can contribute to greater exchange of experience between sporting administrators and help create additional opportunities for athletes competing at the international level.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/financialtelegraph.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/PNN-1-49.jpg\" alt=\"Yogesh Shelly Meets Russian Paralympic Committee President Pavel Alekseevich Rozhkov, Discusses Para Athlete Development and International Collaboration-PNN\" class=\"wp-image-84179\"><\/figure>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a><\/a><strong>Indian Para Powerlifting Team Delivers Strong Performance in Moscow<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The engagement coincided with the participation of the Indian Para Powerlifting team in the <strong>Moscow International Para-Powerlifting Competition among Combat Veterans<\/strong>, held in Moscow, Russia, from <strong>6 to 10 August 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">India recorded a notable performance at the competition, with two athletes securing gold medals.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Pradeep Joon<\/strong> won <strong>first place and the gold medal in the Men\u2019s 107 kg category<\/strong>, recording a best lift of <strong>193 kg<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Shubham Chakrawarty<\/strong> also secured <strong>first place and a gold medal in the Men\u2019s 54 kg category<\/strong>, with a best lift of <strong>120 kg<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile, <strong>Rao Suhail<\/strong> finished <strong>fourth in the Men\u2019s 72 kg category<\/strong>, recording a best lift of <strong>121 kg<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The results added another positive chapter to India\u2019s growing presence in international Para Powerlifting and highlighted the competitive potential of Indian athletes on global platforms.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a><\/a><strong>Bangkok Championship Further Strengthened India\u2019s Presence<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Moscow engagement followed India\u2019s strong showing at the <strong>Asia Oceania Para Powerlifting Championship 2026 in Bangkok<\/strong>, where the Indian contingent finished with an impressive <strong>34 medals \u2014 6 gold, 10 silver and 18 bronze<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yogesh Sharma (Shelly) was associated with the championship as an official representative from Punjab, supporting and coordinating with athletes during the international competition.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Bangkok performance further demonstrated the depth of Indian para-powerlifting talent and the importance of providing athletes with regular international competitive exposure.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a><\/a><strong>Strengthening Para Athlete Development in Punjab<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yogesh Shelly\u2019s responsibilities also extend to developing a stronger support structure for para athletes at the regional level.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In February 2026, he was appointed <strong>Director of Para Athlete Development &amp; Special Programs, India Para Powerlifting<\/strong>.
